The project involved the construction of a new WCF Pet & Equestrian store to replace the existing store, still trading on-site, then demolishing the existing store including remediation works and removal of any asbestos materials, this would then allow the new Lidl store to be constructed.

CLIENT: Lidl UK GmbH     VALUE: £3.8m     COMPLETION: August 2019     DURATION: 90 weeks

WORKS INCLUDED

  • Steel framed buildings with traditional strip/pad foundations.
  • In situ concrete floors.
  • Elevations were a combination of cladding, timber boarding, stone and render.
  • Aluminium windows and doors.
  • Curtain walling.
  • Phased installation of two King Post retaining walls 120m in length and average 3.50m high.
  • Associated external works, car parking and drainage.
  • Architectural railings, planting and landscaping.

ACHIEVEMENTS

  • High standard of finish throughout and sectional completion.
  • Enabling the WCF store to trade throughout the construction phase.
  • Maintaining access & parking to WCF and providing access to adjacent properties, avoiding any disruption to the existing highways. This was managed by keeping local residents fully informed of any potential disruption & close relationships were formed with the WCF store and Management team.
  • The project was delivered with zero reportable Health & Safety incidents.
  • The project was delivered with zero environmental notices issued.
  • Construction of both stores with minimal complaints and planning issues in a busy Town Centre location.
